Full Declassified US Navy film showing the building of a top secret nuclear powered underground city built in the Arctic.



The city was built in 1959 as part of a top secret project called Project Iceworm. It was to be a ballistic missile site with the capacity to house over 600 ballistic missiles when it was completed. It was named Camp Century but was known as the city under the ice.



The city spanned out over three kilometers ,an amazing network of icy tunnels that had  everything a self sufficient city would be expected to have. Amenities included a hospital, shops,laboratories and even a cinema. Incredibly it was also powered by the world's first portable nuclear power generator.
